Measure AC impedance in a live DC Circuit

Recognising a growing demand in DC power conversion applications to quantify the AC impedance presented to a supply system when a device is running, N4L decided to develop a measurement solution. The solution combines the Power Impedance Module (PIM) with our PSM3750 frequency response analyzer; An innovative control technique allows the isolated signal generator of our PSM3750 to modulate the impedance of a power semiconductor in a live DC circuit. Combined with a proprietary low inductance current sensor, from which one of the PSM3750 isolated measurement channels can derive accurate magnitude and phase of an injected disturbance signal relative to the voltage across a device under test, an accurate AC impedance plot is produced. The PIM10 or PIM30 combined with a PSM3750, a solution to swept AC impedance measurement on a live DC power circuit.
